Georgia 2026 withholding from source 1, source 2. Uses the 4.99% rate and higher deductions employers could apply from May 11, 2026 (HB 463); earlier 2026 stubs used 5.19%.

Paychecks in Georgia

  • Georgia withholds a flat 4.99% of wages after subtracting a standard deduction ($30,000 a year for married couples with one earner, $15,000 for everyone else) and $5,000 per Form G-4 allowance.
  • A 2026 law (HB 463) cut the rate from 5.19% retroactive to January 1, but employers could not switch before May 11, 2026, so earlier paychecks used the old rate and smaller deductions.
  • Without a Form G-4, employers may use the federal W-4 if it gives enough information; otherwise they withhold as single with zero allowances.
  • Georgia has no local income taxes and no state disability or paid leave deduction, and bonuses are withheld at the 4.99% rate in effect when paid.
