Paychecks in Hawaii

  • Hawaii withholding uses brackets from 1.4% to 7.9% on annualized wages after subtracting $1,144 per Form HW-4 allowance plus a flat $4,350 that applies to every employee.
  • Hawaii does not accept the federal W-4 and does not allow an exempt status; without an HW-4, employers withhold as single with no allowances, and heads of household use the single table.
  • Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) can cost employees up to 0.5% of weekly wages in 2026, capped at $7.50 a week; employers may pay all of it, but the calculator assumes the maximum employee share.
  • Hawaii counties levy no income taxes, and bonuses have no flat supplemental rate: they are added to regular wages and withheld together.
